TOGETHER
We
can challenge racism together in our local communities, schools, and workplaces.
Ireland is recognised today to be a growing multicultural society. Our nation
is enriched by the many threads that make up our national tapestry. We value
diversity and encourage an intercultural approach.
What
is Interculturalism?
An
intercultural approach is the development of strategy, policy and practice
that promotes interaction, understanding and respect and integration between
different cultures and ethnic groups on the basis that cultural diversity
is a strength that can enrich society, without glossing over issues such as
racism. Interculturalism is now replacing earlier approaches such as assimilation
and multiculturalism.
